Castro Valley keeps its commercial coffee along Castro Valley Boulevard and around the BART station, a mix of neighborhood cafes, bakeries, and drive-up counters serving the commuter crowd. We cover 94546 and 94552. From San Ramon it is about 25 to 30 minutes over the Dublin grade off peak.

An Astoria Plus 4 You or Core600 on the Boulevard handles a morning commuter rush and then settles down. Heavy early demand plus mineral-heavy water means scale and solenoid wear are what we see most.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

Brew and steam solenoids. A commuter-rush Plus 4 You cycles solenoids hard every morning. A weeping group or a wand that will not shut off gets the valve tested and replaced, plus the line cleared of scale.
Group gaskets and shower screens. High morning volume wears the group gasket and fouls the screen. We replace both and reseat the group on the Astoria so shots pour even through the rush.
Descaling and water filtration. Castro Valley water scales boilers and probes. We descale the system and check the inline filter, which keeps the Core600 and Plus 4 You from choking up again.
Heating element, level probe, and pump. No steam or erratic fill traces to the element or a scaled probe, and soft shots to the pump. We test each, clean or replace, and reset pressure to spec.
