For an Astoria, that means a filter cartridge sized for one reading can run out early when the harder supply comes through, and scale starts forming before anyone notices the cartridge is spent.

The Hybrid adds electronics to the picture, and a fault there can look a lot like a water problem. We collect the machine from a counter near the waterfront or a studio in the Arsenal Historic District, test it on our bench, and send a written quote before any part is replaced. What we repair on the bench.

Hybrid dosing buttons that stop responding. A button that does nothing, or a dose that comes out a different size every time, points at the control board, the keypad or the flowmeter behind it. We read each dose against the programmed volume, check the wiring and connectors, and only then decide whether the board needs replacing.
Steam solenoid that drips after the wand closes. Scale on the valve seat keeps the steam solenoid from sealing, so the wand hisses or drips between drinks. We pull the valve, clean or rebuild it, and run the steam circuit until it shuts off clean every time.
Rotary pump losing brew pressure. Weak brew pressure on an Astoria usually means the rotary pump has worn or its bypass has drifted. We put a gauge on the brew circuit, try to set the pump back to spec, and replace the pump head if the adjustment will not hold.
