How do you tell a worn gasket from a bad solenoid?

A worn gasket leaks around the portafilter while the shot is running. A bad solenoid drips from the group after the shot ends, or keeps the group from starting at all. We confirm which one it is on the bench before quoting.

Should all three gaskets on our S300 be replaced at once?

What we repair on the bench.

Hardened group gasket letting the portafilter turn too far. A gasket that has gone stiff stops sealing, so water sprays around the basket and the handle locks further over than it used to. We replace the gasket and the shower screen together, clean the group face, and pull test shots to confirm the seal holds.
MVP Hydra group that will not hold pre-infusion. On the Hydra, the paddle decides when the pump comes in, and a worn valve or seal in the group lets pressure bleed away during pre-infusion. We rebuild the group valve, replace its seals, and check the paddle travel so that head feels the same as the others.
Solenoid coil or valve failing on one head. A group that will not start, or will not stop, usually traces back to its solenoid: a burnt coil, or a valve body jammed with grit. We test the coil, clean or rebuild the valve, and replace the coil only when its reading is out of range.
