Synesso in Clayton
Synesso commercial service.
Clayton sits at the foot of Mount Diablo next to Concord, and its summers are hot and dry. A Synesso already runs several boilers at once, and in a warm room with little airflow the heat inside its cabinet climbs further. Pump motors run hotter, electronics age sooner, and a safety cutout that was borderline in spring can start tripping in the hottest stretch of the year.
We collect the machine and take it to our bench, where we check the motor, the cutouts and the boards with the panels on and the machine at full temperature, the way it runs at your counter. Clayton's water comes from the Contra Costa Water District, Delta water drawn through the Contra Costa Canal and Los Vaqueros Reservoir, so while the boilers are open we check how much scale has built and set a descale interval from that. The written quote comes before any work.
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. 6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Pump motor overheating and shutting off. A motor that stops after a long run and restarts once it cools has usually tripped its internal thermal protection. Worn bearings and a tight pump make it work harder. We check the motor's draw and temperature, free up or replace the pump, and fit a new motor if the windings are damaged.
- Safety cutout tripping on a hot day. Each boiler has a cutout that kills the heat if the boiler overheats. When one trips without a real overheat, the cutout itself may be weak, or a sticking relay may be overdriving the element. We test both and replace the part at fault.
- Control board faults that come with heat and age. Boards that sit above hot boilers for years can develop cracked solder joints and tired components, and the result is random resets or a group that ignores its settings. We test the board with the machine fully hot, since some of these faults only appear then.

FAQ
Synesso in Clayton questions, answered.
-
Should we change anything around the machine for Clayton summers?
Give the machine the clearance its manual calls for on the sides and top, and keep boxes and stacked cups away from the vents. Cooler air around the cabinet takes load off the motor and the boards, and it costs nothing. -
Does Delta water from the Contra Costa Water District need special filtration?
It needs a filter chosen for your volume and your water. The district's annual water quality report gives the hardness; with that and your drink count, we can suggest a descale interval, and a water-treatment provider can size the cartridge. -
Can our Clayton cafe keep using the machine with one group down?
Often, yes. A Synesso's groups run on separate boilers and controls, so one failed head does not always stop the others. If the fault is a leak or an electrical trip, though, switch the machine off until we collect it. -
What does the Synesso pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does Synesso bench repair take?
Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. -
What warranty applies to Synesso coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
