Portola Valley has almost no commercial inventory beyond its small town center off Alpine Road and Portola Road, so the Schaerer machines we service in 94028 live mostly in private kitchens on wooded acreage properties and whatever event kitchen gets set up for a gathering. These are super-automatic boxes, pouring steadily for a household or a small staff and then sitting cold overnight, which wears on milk lines and seals regardless of volume.

We come up from San Ramon on 680 south and across on 92 or 280, about 50 to 60 minutes, and Portola Valley runs on our Peninsula route day with Hillsborough. Because this is a wildfire-aware area with occasional PG&E power shutoffs, a machine that trips out after an outage is a call we can usually sort out quickly. For the electrical and water-line side of an install, we carry CSLB #1136642.

What we repair on the bench.

Milk system valves and tubing. A quiet week followed by a full morning of pouring is hard on a milk circuit either way, since dried residue in the lines is what actually flattens the foam. We open the circuit, strip out the tubing and valves, and rebuild it clean rather than just flushing what is there.
Boiler descaling. Some properties toward the outer roads run on well water rather than the treated municipal supply, so scale behaves a little differently machine to machine. We test what actually feeds the unit, descale the boiler, check the heating element, and recommend a filter cartridge suited to that water.
Brew unit service. A Coffee Soul or Coffee Prime lives or dies by its brew unit. Once the seals wear and the piston starts sticking, you get weak shots and leaks around the group. We pull the whole assembly, rebuild or swap it, then pressure test it before it goes back in.
Grinder calibration and burr wear. When the cup tastes thin, the grinder is usually the cause before anything else, dose and grind both drift as the burrs dull. We check the burrs, recalibrate, and replace them if they are past adjusting.
