La Marzocco in Portola Valley

La Marzocco commercial service.

Portola Valley (94028) has almost no commercial inventory outside its small town center, so a La Marzocco call here nearly always means a Linea Classic or GB5 set up in a home, not a cafe. We see them in the big custom houses on wooded acreage and in the mid-century modern places in the Ladera-adjacent pockets, usually bought to run like a proper cafe machine for a household that takes its coffee seriously.

From San Ramon it runs 50 to 60 minutes via I-680 south and CA-92 or I-280, and we book Portola Valley on the same Peninsula day as Hillsborough so you get a written arrival time rather than an open window. Common gaskets and solenoid parts already ride on the van, which makes a common repair with a part we usually stock realistic for the usual scale and gasket issues.

$175 pickup deposit for home machines (Linea Mini, GS3); $250–$550 for commercial equipment. Pickup, bench diagnosis, and return are included. Repair work is quoted separately. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Same-day pickup may be available, but same-day repair is not offered. Repair parts are covered for 6 months; consumables are covered for 90 days.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

  • Brew-group gaskets and shower screens. Channeling or a group seal blowing past points to a worn portafilter gasket and a clogged shower screen. On a Linea or GB5 we pull the screen, swap the gasket, and reset the group so the shot pulls even.
  • Steam and brew solenoid valves. A stuck solenoid drips into the group or weakens the steam wand. We rebuild or swap the brew and steam solenoids and check the coils, which matters on a machine that goes quiet between uses out here.
  • Boiler descaling and heating element. Tap water in the hills scales the steam boiler and chokes the element just like anywhere else on the Peninsula. We descale, test the element draw, and talk filtration so it holds up between visits.
  • PID and SSR control. A boiler that will not hold setpoint or a temperature that drifts usually traces back to the SSR or PID board. We check the SSR and the level probe first, before any electronics get blamed.
