Group gaskets harden, shower screens clog with coffee oil, and the brew solenoid starts to weep, and together they add up to poor lockup, channeling and a group that keeps dripping after the shot.
We work on La Marzocco as an authorized service company. If your GB5 or Linea sits anywhere from San Pablo Avenue and Refugio Valley Road to Hercules Bayfront, we collect it and put it through a full bench test: every group, both boilers, the steam wand and the hot water. A written quote comes before any repair.

What we repair on the bench.
- Group gasket and shower screen worn out. A hard gasket and a clogged screen cause poor lockup, water weeping past the portafilter, and uneven extraction. We replace both, clean the dispersion block, and pull shots to check that water spreads evenly across the puck.
- Brew solenoid dripping after the shot. When a group keeps dripping after the shot ends, the brew solenoid is not sealing. We rebuild it with new seals or replace it, then run the group through repeated cycles to confirm it closes clean every time.
- Vacuum breaker hissing on warm-up. The vacuum breaker should close once the steam boiler builds pressure. A worn seal lets it hiss and vent steam through warm-up and beyond. We replace the seal or the valve and watch it close on a full heat-up from cold.

Our GB5 in Hercules drips from one group. Is that serious?
It is worth fixing soon. A dripping group wastes water, keeps the drain wet and usually means the brew solenoid is wearing. Left alone, the leak tends to grow. A solenoid rebuild on the bench is one of the simpler La Marzocco repairs. -
Do soft-water machines still need descaling in Hercules?
