The steam boiler element may be scaled or failing, the pressure control may be switching early, or a steam valve or wand tip may be leaking or packed with dried milk. We find which one before replacing anything.

El Sobrante is on EBMUD water, soft to moderate, so scale grows slowly here but still reaches an element given time. We collect from the downtown stretch of San Pablo Dam Road between El Portal and Appian Way, the triangle at Valley View Road, El Sobrante Manor and the homes in the hills. As an authorized La Marzocco service company, we quote in writing before any repair.

What we repair on the bench.

Steam pressure low or slow to recover. We put a gauge on the steam boiler and watch it through repeated steaming. If pressure sags while the element is drawing power, scale or a weak element is the cause; if it never calls for heat, the pressure control or the SSR is. We replace whichever has failed.
Steam valve dripping at the wand. A steam valve with a worn seal or seat lets the wand drip or hiss when closed, and slowly drains boiler pressure. We rebuild the valve with new seals, or replace it if the seat is damaged, and test it through repeated open and close cycles.
Wand tip blocked with dried milk. Milk dried inside the tip narrows the holes, so steam comes out weak or lopsided and milk texture suffers. We clean or replace the tip and check the wand for build-up inside that an outside wipe never reaches.
