The Linea Micra brings La Marzocco's engineering into a home kitchen, with a coffee boiler, a steam boiler and PID temperature control in a compact frame. Its boilers are small, so a little scale goes a long way: slower heat-up, weaker steam, and a vibration pump working harder to push water through.

Clayton's tap water is treated Delta water from the Contra Costa Water District, by way of the Contra Costa Canal and Los Vaqueros Reservoir. We set a descaling interval from the scale we find inside. We collect from Dana Hills, Peacock Creek, Cardinet Glen and the rest of town, work on the machine at our bench as an authorized La Marzocco service company, and quote in writing before any repair.

What we repair on the bench.

Micra steam boiler slow or steam weak. Scale on the steam boiler element slows heat-up and weakens steam, and a scaled level probe can let the boiler run low or overfill. We descale the boiler, test the element and the probe, and replace what has failed.
Vibration pump buzzing with little flow. A vibration pump that buzzes loudly but moves little water is worn, or is fighting a restriction downstream. We clear the path first, then check pressure at the group and replace the pump if it cannot reach its setting.
Group gasket leaking on a home machine. Home machines pull fewer shots, but gaskets still harden with heat and age. A leak at the portafilter rim or a loose lockup means it is time. We replace the gasket and screen and check that the portafilter seals at the right angle.
