Modbar puts only the tap on the counter and the espresso, steam or pour-over module underneath, a layout that fits an office coffee bar well. It also means the part that fails sits under the counter, tied in by water lines and cables. Getting a module out from under the counter cleanly takes some care, and so does putting it back.

Emeryville is on EBMUD water, soft to moderate, so scale builds slowly. We are an authorized La Marzocco service company and work on Modbar Espresso AV and EP, Steam and Pour-Over modules as well as Lineas and the Strada. We plan the pickup with your building near Powell Street and Bay Street or at the Watergate, test the module on our bench, and quote in writing first.

What we repair on the bench.

Modbar Espresso module losing pressure or temperature. An Espresso AV or EP module that pours weak or cool has the same kinds of parts inside as any La Marzocco: pump, boiler, heating element and sensors. We run the module on the bench, find the part that drifts, and replace it.
Modbar Steam module giving wet or weak steam. Wet or weak steam from a Modbar Steam module points at the boiler level, the steam valve or the element. We check each in turn, correct the level or replace the failed part, and steam test pitchers before it goes back under your counter.
Modbar Pour-Over pouring the wrong volume. A Pour-Over module that pours short, long or at the wrong temperature usually has a flow or temperature sensor drifting, or scale in the line to the tap. We clean the path, test the sensors, and check the pour against its program.
