Richmond's coffee runs in two pockets. Point Richmond's old downtown has the independent shops, and the cafes along Macdonald Avenue and out toward Marina Bay serve the commuters heading for the ferry. Most of these are small rooms running one Rancilio against a long morning rush, so a stalled group head shows up in the till by 9am.

We cover 94801, 94804, and 94805. Richmond is about a 35 minute run from San Ramon up 24 and across 80, longer in commute hours. The water here is hard enough that scale is the first thing we check on any Rancilio that has lived on a plumbed line for a few years.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

Gicleur and group screen clogs from scale. Richmond tap water leaves mineral deposits in the gicleur jets and group screens on a Classe 5 or Classe 7. We descale the path, clear the jets, and talk through a water filter so it does not come back.
Brew and steam solenoid valves. A solenoid that sticks gives you weak flow or a steam wand that will not shut. We swap the brew or steam valve and test the machine under real pressure before we leave.
Group gaskets and screens. Hard portafilter lock and spray around the basket usually means a tired group gasket. We replace the gasket and screen so the group seals clean again.
Heating element and level sensor. No heat or a boiler that overfills points at the element or the level probe. We test both, replace what failed, and confirm the boiler cycles right.
