From San Ramon we are about 35 minutes through the Caldecott. Piedmont and the surrounding Oakland hills run the same hard water as the rest of the East Bay, so descaling and a working filter are the difference between a clean fix and a callback, and we check both.

What we repair on the bench.

Gicleur and scale cleanout. A single hard-working group scales at the gicleur and the flow drops off. We clear the jet, flush the path, and review your softener so it stays clear.
Group gaskets and screens. A leaking or hissing portafilter on a Classe 5 or 7 is a worn gasket. We replace the gasket and dispersion screen and reset the group seal.
Heating element and level sensor. Scale on the probe and element means slow recovery and bad fill. We clean or replace the probe and test element draw to bring temperature back.
Brew solenoid valve. A group that keeps dribbling after the shot is usually the brew solenoid. We rebuild or replace it so the group releases clean.
