Berkeley is a serious coffee town, and that means a lot of Franke hardware running hard. Downtown around Shattuck, the Gourmet Ghetto on North Shattuck, and the offices and labs around the UC campus and West Berkeley keep super-automatic units busy through long days. A600 and A800 machines and the higher-volume lines show up here, often pushing real cup counts in 94703, 94704, and 94705.

From San Ramon it is about 40 to 50 minutes to Berkeley over the 24 and through the tunnel. We work on Franke as an independent shop, not a factory-authorized dealer, and the quote is in writing before anything starts. East Bay water plus heavy daily volume means scale builds fast, so descaling and filtration come up on most Berkeley calls.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

High-volume brewer unit rebuild. Cafes around Shattuck run thousands of cups, and the brewer wears. We rebuild the brew group, replace seals and the piston, and restore even extraction on an A800.
FoamMaster milk system overhaul. Heavy latte and cortado volume in the Gourmet Ghetto pushes the FoamMaster hard. We rebuild milk valves and lines and reset the injector for steady foam shift after shift.
Boiler descaling and flow meter service. Scale from constant brewing throws off temperature and shot volume. We descale the heater circuit and clean or replace the flow meter so an A600 doses accurately.
Grinder burr replacement under load. High daily counts kill burrs fast. We replace burrs and recalibrate dose and grind so a busy Downtown machine stops drifting mid-day.
