From San Ramon it's roughly 50 to 60 minutes down I-680 south and over on CA-92 or I-280. What we repair on the bench.
- Brew unit and gasket rebuild. The brew group on CM series units wears its seals and gums up with old grounds. On a machine in a home office that runs light and steady rather than in bursts, the seals still dry out over time even without heavy volume. We pull the brew unit, replace gaskets, and clean the piston so pucks eject clean again.
- Descale and thermoblock service. Well water on Portola Valley's outer roads scales the thermoblock and flow path with a different mineral profile than municipal supply, and it can move faster than the machine's built-in descale prompt accounts for. We run a full descale, clear blocked lines, and check the water filter, and on a well system we look at the source water too.
- Conical grinder burrs. A dull set of conical burrs pulls an uneven grind and the cup turns thin or bitter. We swap in new burrs and dial the grind back in so dosing holds steady again.
- Milk pipework and valves. Built-in CVA and CM milk systems clog with dried milk fat at the valves and tubing, and a machine that sits idle through a PG&E shutoff and then gets pressed into service right after tends to show it worse. We take the pipework apart, clear the dried fat out, and get the foam working again.
