Miele Built-In Coffee System Deep Clean in Alamo (CVA6805)

Weak, short pours and faults from a brew unit and grinder caked with old grounds and coffee oil.

miele-professional Miele built-in coffee system Model: CVA6805 commercial-coffee-machine-repair

A homeowner in Alamo called about their built-in Miele CVA6805 coffee system. It had stopped making a decent cup, and a couple of faults kept popping up. We took a look the same day.

Problem: The machine was pouring weak and short. You’d ask for a normal cup and get about half of it, watery, and sometimes it would throw a fault and stop partway through. This is a 120V residential built-in, tucked into the cabinetry, so everything has to come out to get at the guts.

Diagnostics: We charge a flat $75 to come out and diagnose, and that gets waived when you go ahead with the repair. Once we pulled the unit and opened it up, the cause wasn’t a broken part. The brew unit was heavily caked with old grounds and dried coffee oil. The bean chute and grinder path were clogged with oily fines, and there were bridged beans jamming the feed. Grounds had also worked their way loose inside the cabinet. This was months of missed cleaning, plain and simple. Coffee oil goes rancid and sticky, and it gums up the whole brew path until the machine can’t push water through the way it should.

Solution: We gave the homeowner a written quote first, then got to work. We pulled the brew group and deep-cleaned it, scrubbed out the grinder and bean chute, and cleared the grounds path. The bridged beans came out and we got the oily residue off everything that the coffee actually touches. Then we put it back together, ran a full cleaning cycle, and dialed it back in. To be straight about it, this was mostly a thorough cleaning and maintenance job, not a parts swap.

Result: Pours came back to full strength and volume, the faults cleared, and the machine ran clean through our test cups. We talked the homeowner through a regular cleaning routine so it doesn’t get this bad again.

We’re an independent repair shop based in San Ramon, not factory-authorized for Miele, and a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1136642). If your built-in coffee maker is acting up around the Tri-Valley or the wider Bay Area, call ADRIUM and we’ll take a look.
