DCS in San Bruno
DCS in San Bruno kitchens.
San Bruno's DCS calls run mostly through the hillside streets off Skyline Boulevard, where a lot of the remodeled kitchens went with a 36 inch RGS range, and a few flatter lots near Tanforan have a built-in DCS grill out back.
I've noticed the simmer burners on these units act up about as often as the grill modules do, which isn't the pattern I see in every city.
Our technician is based in San Mateo, a short drive down 101, so San Bruno isn't a special trip from San Ramon. ZIP 94066.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Simmer burner burns yellow or won't hold low. On the RGS Dual Flow burner, yellow tips usually mean a burner cap not seated on its locating pin, or a jet with debris in it. I pull the cap, clean the jet, and reseat it before checking flame color again.
- Grill or griddle module dead or weak flame. The GL grill or GD griddle stays cold or lights weak. Usually the igniter has worn out, or the thermal valve behind it is stuck part shut, and I check both before replacing anything.
- Oven glow-bar igniter. Same failure I see on most RGS ovens: the glow bar glows but doesn't pull enough current to open the safety valve. I replace the glow bar and test the valve draw before closing it up.

FAQ
DCS in San Bruno questions, answered.
-
Do I have to wait longer for service since San Bruno isn't near San Ramon?
Not really. Our Peninsula technician is based in San Mateo, a short drive down 101 from San Bruno. We still don't promise same-day, but response beats a San Ramon dispatch by a wide margin. -
Do you carry the parts these RGS ranges usually need?
Electrodes, reignition modules, and glow-bar igniters, yes. Griddle and grill module parts, and thermal valves, get sourced through Fisher and Paykel since that's who builds DCS. -
What's the diagnostic fee for a DCS range in San Bruno?
$99, and it's credited toward the repair after the on-site diagnosis. I write the quote up before starting, and any gas work falls under CSLB #1136642.
