DCS in Alameda
DCS in Alameda kitchens.
Alameda has a specific mix that suits DCS well. The Victorians and Craftsman homes on the Gold Coast were remodeled in waves through the 2000s and 2010s, and a lot of those kitchens got a 36 or 48 inch RGS all-gas range because the owners wanted restaurant output without giving up a gas line that was already there. Then there are the newer builds around Alameda Point and Bay Farm with outdoor kitchens, and those almost always have a DCS built-in grill facing the water.
Salt air is the story on this island. I see more corroded spark electrodes and rusted grill burner tubes in Alameda than anywhere else in the East Bay. A DCS grill that lives three blocks from the estuary needs its igniters and ceramic rods checked more often than the same grill in Danville. We service both the indoor RGS ranges and the outdoor BGB and Series 9 grills, and we stock the spark modules and igniters that fail first in marine air.
ADRIUM Service Solutions is licensed under CSLB #1136642 and I am EPA Section 608 Universal certified. The diagnostic is $75 and we waive it when you approve the repair. You get a written quote before any work starts, and repairs carry a 1 year warranty. We take calls 7 days.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Surface burners clicking but not lighting. On RGS ranges near the water the spark electrodes corrode and the spark jumps to ground instead of the burner. Sometimes it is just the electrode, sometimes the spark module itself has failed from moisture. I test the module output first so you do not pay for parts you do not need.
- Outdoor grill burner will not stay lit. DCS built-in grills use a flame sensing safety on some configurations, and salt corrosion on the burner ports gives a lazy flame that drops out. I pull the burner, check the ports and the venturi, and replace the burner tube if the stainless has pitted through. This is the most common Alameda call I get.
- Oven runs cold or takes forever to preheat. The bake igniter on an RGS oven weakens with age. It still glows, but it does not pull enough current to open the gas valve fully, so the oven cycles slow and bakes uneven. A current draw test confirms it in ten minutes and the igniter swap is a same-visit repair when I have the part on the van.

FAQ
DCS in Alameda questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Alameda from San Ramon?
We come over 580 through Oakland or up 880 past San Leandro, then across the bridge or through the tube. Plan on 35 to 45 minutes outside of rush hour. I usually pair Alameda visits with Oakland or San Leandro stops on the same run, so morning slots book fastest. -
Do you work on the outdoor DCS grills or only the indoor ranges?
Both. The outdoor grills are actually half my DCS work in Alameda because of the salt air. Burner tubes, ceramic radiant rods, igniter kits, and gas valves for the BGB and Series 9 lines are all repairs we do regularly. -
My RGS range is over 15 years old. Is it still worth repairing?
Usually yes. These are all-gas ranges with simple controls and Fisher & Paykel still supports most parts. A $300 to $500 repair on a range that cost $6,000 or more new is almost always the right call. I will tell you straight at the diagnostic if yours is the exception.
