DCS in Clayton
DCS in Clayton kitchens.
Clayton summers are hot and dry at the foot of Mount Diablo, and a built-in DCS grill on the patio works hard through all of them. Grills that see that much use wear their igniters, collect grease and burn through their burners, and the trouble often shows up at the first big cookout of the season. We work on the grill in its island and only pull it out when the fault sits behind the firebox.
Indoors, the large homes of Peacock Creek and the 1990s streets around Oakhurst may carry a 48 or 60-inch RGS with a grill or griddle in the cooktop. The technician who handles Clayton is based in Benicia. The diagnostic is $99 and is credited toward the repair you approve, and the written quote comes first. Gas work is licensed under CSLB #1136642.
Common repairs we handle.
- Outdoor grill igniter that stopped sparking. Heat, grease and weather wear out an outdoor igniter. We check the electrode tip and gap, the wire, and the ignition module and its power, clean off the carbon, and replace the parts that fail a spark test. Then every burner lights from its own knob.
- Grill burner rusted through or flaming unevenly. Years of high heat and drippings eat at burner ports, and a burner with enlarged or rusted holes throws tall, uneven flames. We inspect each burner, replace any that are corroded through, and clear the rest so the grill heats evenly across.
- Range flame lifting off the burner ports. A flame that lifts away from the burner or blows out on high points to too much air or too much pressure. We check the regulator setting, the orifice and the burner seating, and confirm the reignition module relights cleanly if a flame does go out.

FAQ
DCS in Clayton questions, answered.
-
The DCS grill in our Peacock Creek backyard only lights with a match. Is that okay for now?
If your grill's manual describes match lighting, it works as a backup. It does mean the ignition has failed, and igniters and modules are straightforward parts to replace. We test the spark path and quote the repair before we order anything. -
Our Dana Ridge patio grill smells of gas even with the knobs off. What should we do?
Don't light it and don't go looking for the leak. Move everyone away from the grill and call 911 from a safe spot, plus PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 if the grill runs on the house gas line. A smell with the knobs off points to a leaking valve, fitting or hose. Once it's been made safe, we find it with a leak detector and replace the part before the grill goes back into use. -
Can one visit cover the outdoor DCS grill and the RGS range inside?
Yes. One diagnostic covers both, and each repair gets its own line on the written quote. Mention both when you book so our technician comes ready for each.
