DCS in Milpitas
DCS in Milpitas kitchens.
Milpitas DCS calls cluster in two areas. The hillside neighborhoods off Calaveras and up toward the county line have larger custom homes where 48 inch RGS ranges were installed at build time. The rest of the city is dense with 70s and 80s tract homes that have been remodeled hard over the past decade, and in those kitchens the 30 inch RGS-305 footprint wins because it drops into a standard range cutout while delivering the commercial burner output the owner wanted.
New construction around the Great Mall and the BART station added townhomes and ADUs, and I get calls there for compact setups where a DCS range shares a small kitchen with a counter-depth refrigerator. Tight kitchens change the repair too. Clearances are minimal, so pulling a range for rear access takes more care, and I plan Milpitas visits with that in mind.
We are ADRIUM Service Solutions out of San Ramon, CSLB #1136642, EPA Section 608 Universal certified. $75 diagnostic, waived with repair. Written quote first, 1 year warranty on the repair, and we run service 7 days a week.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Igniters sparking weak after a kitchen deep clean. A common Milpitas pattern, the range gets an aggressive cleaning and afterward the burners click for ten seconds before lighting. Cleaner residue on the electrodes insulates the spark path. I strip and reset each electrode and check the gap, and I show the owner which cleaners to keep away from the igniters.
- Oven gas smell before ignition in a small kitchen. In a compact remodel the owner notices a gas whiff at every preheat because the room is small. Usually it is a slow bake igniter letting gas flow a few seconds before light-off. In a tight kitchen this is more noticeable and less acceptable, so I replace the igniter and verify light-off time drops under spec.
- Griddle plate on an RGS-486GD cooking hot in the center. The factory griddle heats from a burner below the plate, and carbon buildup underneath makes a hot spot dead center. I pull the plate, clean the burner and the underside, and check thermostat calibration so pancakes stop burning in the middle while staying raw at the edges.

FAQ
DCS in Milpitas questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Milpitas from San Ramon?
Down 680 through the Sunol grade, about 35 minutes. Milpitas is on my South Bay route with Fremont, San Jose, and Santa Clara, so I typically offer route-day appointments rather than same-day, and the route days come around twice a week. -
My kitchen is tight and the range barely clears the cabinets. Can you still work on it?
Yes, that is normal for Milpitas remodels. Most DCS repairs happen from the top and front without pulling the unit. When rear access is required I use sliders and floor protection and put it back exactly where it sat. -
Is a 20 year old DCS range worth fixing versus buying a new pro range?
Usually, yes. The all-gas RGS design has few electronics to die and Fisher & Paykel still supplies the mechanical parts. A few hundred dollars in valves or igniters buys years of service. If I find rust-through or an unrepairable manifold I will say so at diagnostic instead of selling you a repair.
