La Cimbali in El Sobrante
La Cimbali commercial service.
When a barista says the shots are running fast and tasting thin, the grind is only one suspect. On an M39 or M100 the group gasket, the shower screen and the pre-infusion all shape how water meets the coffee. A hardened gasket lets water escape around the basket, and a sticking solenoid throws the pre-infusion off, so the puck channels even with a good grind.
El Sobrante is on EBMUD water, soft to moderate. We pick up from the downtown stretch of San Pablo Dam Road between El Portal and Appian Way, the triangle at Valley View Road and El Sobrante Manor, and bring the machine to our bench. There we pull shots on each group and compare them. You approve the written quote before any repair.
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. Bench diagnosis can take up to one week; most repairs take 3–4 weeks. Common repairs we do
What we repair on the bench.
- Hardened group gasket letting water escape. A gasket that has gone hard no longer seals against the portafilter. Water weeps down the side and the shot runs thin. We replace the gasket and screen, check the group for wear, and confirm the portafilter locks in at the right angle.
- Pre-infusion out of step. Pre-infusion depends on the group solenoid opening and closing on time. A sticking solenoid soaks the puck too little or too long. We test the solenoid, clean or replace it, and check the pre-infusion on each group against the others.
- Expansion valve dripping into the drain. The expansion valve lets off pressure as water heats in a closed circuit. When it drips constantly, its seat is worn or the pump pressure is set too high. We check the pump setting first and replace the valve if it will not seal.

FAQ
La Cimbali in El Sobrante questions, answered.
-
Our shots got fast overnight. Is it the grinder or the machine?
Check the grinder first, since a new bag of beans or a loose adjustment is the simplest cause. If the grind is right and one group still runs fast, the gasket or the pre-infusion is the likely problem. We compare the groups on the bench and tell you which it is. -
Do you pick up from a counter on San Pablo Dam Road?
Yes. Downtown along San Pablo Dam Road, the triangle around Appian Way and Valley View Road, and El Sobrante Manor are all in our pickup area. Tell us how the counter is laid out so we arrive ready to lift the machine. -
How often should a small El Sobrante cafe change its group gaskets?
Before they harden enough to leak. The right interval depends on how many shots each group pulls. Once we have your current gaskets out on the bench, we can tell how worn they are and suggest a schedule that fits your volume. -
What does the La Cimbali pickup deposit cover?
$150–450 deposit depending on the model. It covers pickup, bench diagnosis and return, and is not credited toward the repair. -
How long does La Cimbali bench repair take?

What warranty applies to La Cimbali coffee-machine repair?
6 months on parts and labor; 90 days on consumables.
