Turbo Air in Redwood City
Turbo Air commercial service.
Redwood City is the biggest stop on this stretch of the Peninsula, and it splits into two very different worlds. Downtown around Courthouse Square, restaurants and bars fill up on Fox Theatre nights and keep Turbo Air reach-ins and prep tables running late. Out at Redwood Shores, office towers run corporate cafeteria kitchens with larger multi-door Turbo Air units built for volume, not charm.
Both sides get the same local response now. Instead of every job routing from San Ramon, we have a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County who covers Redwood City directly, working through Bay Area Refrigeration Service, our commercial refrigeration division.
I hold EPA Section 608 certification and CSLB #1136642. Every job gets a written quote before work starts, and the $99 diagnostic is waived once you approve the repair, whether it's a downtown restaurant on a Friday night or an office cafeteria squeezing in a repair between meal periods.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Evaporator coil corrosion in older downtown kitchens. Some of the buildings around Courthouse Square have been running restaurants for decades, and years of nightly cleaning with strong chemicals or acidic food residue wear on the evaporator coil faster than people expect. The unit slowly loses capacity, runs longer, and eventually can't hold temperature. If the coil is pitted, I quote a coil replacement with recharge rather than patching a leak that's going to reopen somewhere else.
- Condenser fan motors in Redwood Shores kitchenettes. Office kitchenettes at Redwood Shores are often built into tight, finished spaces with the Turbo Air unit backed almost against the wall. That kills the airflow the condenser fan motor needs, and the motor burns out well before it should. I replace the motor and clean the coil, and I point out the clearance issue so facilities can plan around it instead of buying another motor next year.
- Dixell controller faults on multi-door cafeteria units. The larger multi-door Turbo Air units feeding an office cafeteria have more sensor points, and when one Dixell probe drifts, the display can read fine while one section of the cabinet actually sits warm with catering trays inside. I check every zone against a calibrated reference probe, not just the one the controller is reporting, and replace whichever sensor is actually lying.

FAQ
Turbo Air in Redwood City questions, answered.
-
We're at Redwood Shores and need someone who can clear building security. How does that work?
We carry the insurance documentation most property managers ask for and can check in through building security like any other vendor. Our technician for this area lives on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, so Redwood Shores is a regular stop, not a special trip. -
Our downtown unit is old and leaking refrigerant. Is it worth fixing?
It depends on where the leak actually is. A pitted evaporator coil is a known repair with a known cost, and on a cabinet that's otherwise sound, that usually makes sense. A leak buried deeper in the system on an old unit changes the math. I give you the honest answer after the diagnostic, in writing. -
What are your basic terms for a commercial account here?
A $99 diagnostic that's waived if you approve the repair, a written quote before anything is done, and we take calls seven days a week since kitchens don't only break down on weekdays.
