Turbo Air in Orinda
Turbo Air commercial service.
Orinda's commercial refrigeration lives in a small footprint. The cafes and eateries around Theatre Square and the crossroads village run Turbo Air merchandisers and undercounter units because the compact footprints fit those small kitchens. There is no spare equipment in a kitchen that size, so a failed case is an immediate problem.
The larger share of my Orinda work is residential. Homes off Miner Road and in Orinda Downs put commercial-style equipment in their kitchens and entertainment areas, and Turbo Air glass door merchandisers show up in wine rooms and pool pavilions where a residential fridge would not keep up. Guest houses and ADUs on these properties often carry a compact Turbo Air undercounter too.
All of it runs through Bay Area Refrigeration Service, the commercial division of ADRIUM Service Solutions. I am EPA 608 Universal certified, CSLB #1136642, based in San Ramon. Written quotes, $75 diagnostic waived with repair, 1 year warranty on repairs, and we answer 7 days.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Fan motor and airflow failures in built-in installs. Orinda installs tend to box Turbo Air units into cabinetry that starves the condenser of air. The fan motor runs hot its whole life and fails early, and the compressor suffers with it. I replace the motor, then measure the actual clearance against Turbo Air's spec and tell you plainly if the enclosure is going to keep eating motors.
- Door gaskets hardened by low duty cycles. A merchandiser in a pool house may sit unopened for weeks, and gaskets that never flex dry out and crack instead of wearing out. Warm air seeps in, the coil frosts, and the unit runs constantly. New snap-in gaskets and a door alignment check restore the seal in a single visit.
- Sensor drift after seasonal shutdowns. Owners shut these units down for winter and restart them in spring, and the thermistors do not always survive the cycle. The controller then holds the box too warm or freezes the product. I verify with a reference probe, replace the drifted sensor, and set the controller for the actual load, wine service and beverage temps included.

FAQ
Turbo Air in Orinda questions, answered.
-
What is your response time to Orinda from San Ramon?
About 25 minutes on 680 and 24. Orinda sits on my Lamorinda loop with Lafayette, and I cover the Berkeley and Piedmont side of the tunnel the same days, so scheduling is flexible. A commercial case losing product gets same-day service. -
The Turbo Air unit in our pool house stopped cooling after sitting all winter. Common?
Very. Long shutdowns are hard on gaskets, sensors, and start components. Before you call, check that the outlet is live and the condenser is not blanketed in cobwebs and leaves. If it hums but does not cool, stop running it and book the diagnostic. Running a unit with a failed start component finishes off the compressor. -
Do you give quotes before doing the work?
Always in writing, after the $75 diagnostic, which is waived when you approve the repair. Repairs carry a 1 year parts and labor warranty. If the unit is not worth fixing I will say so and quote a replacement install, which we back with 10 years parts and 10 years labor.
