Drain line refreezing and spilling water. If the drain line heater quits, meltwater freezes on its way out, the line plugs and the next defrost spills into the cabinet or onto the floor. We clear the ice, test the drain heater and check that the line slopes to the pan.
Evaporator fan blade striking ice. A ticking or scraping sound inside the freezer is often the fan blade hitting ice that has built up around it. Left alone, the blade breaks or the motor stalls. We clear the ice, replace a damaged blade or motor and fix the defrost fault behind it.
