I replace the gearmotor assembly and inspect the auger bushings at the same time, since a worn bushing puts side load on the new motor and shortens its life.
- Bowl seal and tap assembly leaking sugar syrup. Sugar finds every tired o-ring. When an Elmeco starts weeping product at the bowl gasket or the dispensing tap, the seals have hardened. I replace the full seal kit rather than the one visibly leaking ring, because the others are the same age and the machine is already apart.
- Product staying liquid, freeze never setting up. When the granita will not set, I check the condenser for dust blanket first, then the fan, then the refrigerant circuit. On back-bar installs in tight Millbrae counters, the machine often suffocates in its own alcove. Sometimes the fix is a coil cleaning plus two inches of breathing room.
