Elmeco in Benicia

Elmeco commercial service.

Granita is a warm-weather drink, and Benicia's dry, warm summers are when an Elmeco earns its counter space. Trouble tends to start on the first day back after a quiet stretch. Gaskets that dried out in storage leak, the lubricant on the seals is gone, and a coupling that sat still can slip once the bowl is full.

Our technician is based right here in Benicia, so a machine downtown on First Street or out in the Arsenal district is close to home. Every job starts with the $99 diagnostic, credited toward the repair, and a written quote before any work. When the refrigeration side is at fault, ADRIUM holds EPA 608 Universal certification for the sealed-system work.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Start-of-season leaks from dried bowl gaskets. Seals shrink and harden when a machine stands dry for months. We replace the bowl gaskets, lid seals and faucet seals together, lubricate them with food-grade lubricant as the manual calls for, and run the bowl full before we leave so a slow drip shows up while we are still there.
  • Coupling slip on the first full bowl. An empty bowl can turn fine while a full one stalls. That points to a magnetic coupling losing strength. We load-test with product in the bowl, inspect the magnets and the drive face, and replace the coupling if it cannot hold the auger at speed.
  • Quick Gel sensor reading the batch wrong. On Quick Gel and newer units, a mix sensor decides when the product is ready. A dirty or failing sensor over-freezes one batch and leaves the next one thin. We clean and test the sensor and its connector before we look at the board, since the board is the expensive part.

FAQ

Elmeco in Benicia questions, answered.

  • Should we have the machine looked at before we start serving granita in spring?
It costs less than finding the problem on a busy Saturday. A pre-season check covers the seals, the coupling, gearmotor noise and condenser airflow while nothing is riding on the machine. Worn parts get quoted in writing and replaced on a day that suits you.
  • Our machine is in one of the older Arsenal buildings. Does that matter?
It can. Older buildings often have long circuit runs, and a gearmotor or compressor starting on a weak circuit runs hot. We measure the voltage at the outlet with the machine running, so a wiring problem is not mistaken for a failing part.
  • Is it worth repairing a Big Biz that is ten years old?
Usually. These machines are built to be rebuilt, and a gearmotor, coupling or seal kit costs a fraction of a new unit. The exception is a machine with several failures at once. When that is the case, we say so in the written quote and let you decide.
