Follow the ratio the mix maker gives and check it with a refractometer instead of eyeballing it. EBMUD water is soft to moderate, so the water side rarely changes how a batch freezes. A mix that is too lean freezes hard, and one that is too rich never firms up.

Is a sheared coupling an expensive repair?
