Beverage-Air in Half Moon Bay
Beverage-Air commercial service.
Half Moon Bay is the anchor of the Coastside for us, and that territory runs north to Montara and Moss Beach and south to El Granada, not just the town itself. Main Street restaurants and the seafood houses down at Pillar Point Harbor and Princeton run Beverage-Air back-bar coolers and reach-ins through a heavy weekend crowd, and every one of them fights the same enemy, salt air rolling off the Pacific.
Salt air changes how I work on the coast. A condenser coil that would run five years clean in San Ramon can show rust on the fins and corrosion on the fan motor housing in half that time here. I check for it as a matter of course on every Coastside call, not just when a unit is already acting up, because catching it early on the coil is a lot cheaper than replacing a seized fan motor later.
Our technician is based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, and Half Moon Bay is part of his regular territory over Highway 92, so it's not a special trip from San Ramon. We're owner-operated at ADRIUM Service Solutions, hold CSLB #1136642, and carry EPA Section 608 Universal certification. The $99 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, and quotes are written before work starts.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Condenser coil fins eaten by salt air. Coastal salt works into the aluminum fins on a Beverage-Air condenser and corrodes them from the surface in, which chokes airflow long before the coil looks obviously bad to someone glancing at it. Head pressure climbs, the compressor runs longer to hold temperature, and eventually the coil needs replacing outright instead of just cleaning. I inspect fin condition closely on every harbor and Main Street call and flag it early rather than wait for the compressor to fail.
- Condenser fan motor bearings seized by salt corrosion. The fan motor mount and bearing housing on units near the harbor take a steady dose of salt spray, and rust seizes the bearing well before the motor windings themselves would normally wear out. The fan locks up, the compressor overheats without airflow across the coil, and the cabinet warms fast. I replace the motor with attention to how it's mounted and sealed, since the standard mount is what fails first out here.
- Door gasket and hinge failure in harbor restaurant reach-ins. Restaurants around the harbor run reach-in coolers through packed weekend crowds, and the gaskets wear out from sheer door cycling on top of the salt exposure already working against the rubber. The evaporator ices from the leak and the cabinet drifts warm during the dinner rush. I fit a new gasket rated for the use, check the hinges, and confirm the door seals evenly all the way around.

FAQ
Beverage-Air in Half Moon Bay questions, answered.
-
Do you actually cover the whole Coastside, or just Half Moon Bay itself?
The whole Coastside. Montara, Moss Beach, El Granada, and Half Moon Bay are all the same territory for us. Our technician is based on the Peninsula and comes over Highway 92 for Coastside calls, so it's a normal part of his route, not an exception. -
Is there anything we should be doing between service calls to fight the salt air?
Rinsing the condenser coil with fresh water on a regular schedule helps a lot, more than most owners realize. It won't stop corrosion entirely, but it slows it down, and I'll show your staff exactly how to do it without damaging the fins when I'm out there. -
How does the $99 diagnostic work for a Coastside call?
Same as anywhere else we go. I test the unit, write up what's actually wrong including any salt damage I find, and that $99 comes off the bill if you approve the repair. If you don't, the diagnostic fee is the only thing you owe.
