Beverage-Air in Alameda
Beverage-Air commercial service.
Alameda packs a lot of food business onto one island. Park Street and Webster Street both run wall to wall with cafes and small restaurants, and the old naval base at Alameda Point now holds breweries and distilleries along Spirits Alley. Almost every one of those bars runs a Beverage-Air back-bar cooler or a kegerator, and the salt air out there is hard on condenser coils. We service all of it through our commercial division, Bay Area Refrigeration Service.
The pattern I see most on the island is a BB48HC or BB72HC back-bar unit that slowly loses cooling over a busy weekend. Owners assume compressor. In my experience it is usually the condenser fan motor or a coil packed with dust pulled in at floor level, so I check airflow and refrigerant charge before anyone pays for a compressor.
ADRIUM Service Solutions is EPA Section 608 Universal certified and licensed under CSLB #1136642. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, you get a written quote before work starts, and repairs carry a one year warranty.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Seized condenser fan motor on BB series back-bar coolers. Back-bar units in Alameda taprooms sit low behind the counter where they inhale dust, hop debris, and fryer grease. The condenser fan bearing gums up, the motor stalls, and head pressure climbs until the unit trips or runs warm. We replace the fan motor, clean the condenser coil, and verify head pressure afterward.
- Evaporator icing on Vista series reach-ins from failed door gaskets. On Vista reach-ins in busy Park Street kitchens the door gasket splits at the hinge corner first. Humid island air leaks in, the evaporator coil ices into a solid block, and the box creeps into the 50s. We fit the correct Beverage-Air gasket profile, thaw and inspect the coil, and confirm the defrost cycle works.
- Control board faults short-cycling the compressor on UCR undercounters. Undercounter UCR27AHC units in tight cafe spaces develop control and sensor faults that cycle the compressor on and off every couple of minutes. That kills compressors early. We test the probe and controller, replace what actually failed, and set the differential so the compressor gets proper rest between cycles.

FAQ
Beverage-Air in Alameda questions, answered.
-
How fast can you get to Alameda from San Ramon?
We come over on 580 to 880 and across the bridge or tube, which runs about 40 minutes outside commute hours. We route Alameda together with Oakland and San Leandro calls, so if you book a morning slot we are usually already on that side of the bay. -
My Beverage-Air kegerator on Spirits Alley runs warm on hot afternoons. Is that a compressor?
Usually not. Most warm boxes I open trace back to a dirty condenser, a dead fan motor, or a low charge from a slow leak. We check airflow and measure the refrigerant charge before condemning a compressor, and the $75 diagnostic is waived if you go ahead with the repair. -
Do you carry gaskets, or is that a second visit?
We measure and photograph the gasket on the first visit and order the exact Beverage-Air profile, since stocking every size is not realistic. Most gasket jobs finish on the second visit within a few days, and you get the written quote before we order anything.
