Blackhawk is a short drive from our San Ramon shop, and the work here splits two ways. Blackhawk Plaza restaurants run Beverage-Air reach-ins and back-bar coolers in their kitchens and bars, and the estate homes behind the gates have more commercial-grade beverage equipment than most restaurants, built into bars, game rooms, and outdoor kitchens.

Gated community logistics are easy for us because we are local and known at the gates from regular visits. The equipment problems are the usual Beverage-Air ones, condensers starved for air inside custom cabinetry and gaskets cooked by summer heat in outdoor installs. I always prove out airflow and refrigerant charge before recommending anything expensive.

  • Fan motor failures in enclosed home bar installs. Blackhawk home bars often recess a BB series cooler flush into stone or wood surrounds. With no return air path, the condenser fan motor cooks its own bearings and quits. We replace the motor, clean the coil, and measure discharge temperature to confirm the enclosure can actually support the unit.
  • Gasket and icing problems on outdoor kitchen undercounters. Outdoor UCR units by the pool take direct afternoon sun and constant humidity. Gaskets harden and split, evaporators ice over, and the unit stops holding beverage temperature by mid-summer. We fit new gaskets, clear the coil, and advise on shading if the location is fighting the machine.
  • Erratic cycling from failing electronic controls. Newer HC series units around Blackhawk Plaza show controller and probe faults that cycle the compressor wrong, sometimes freezing product, sometimes letting it warm. We test the control chain end to end, replace the failed part, and watch a full cycle before we call it fixed.
