I check the sealed system with gauges, inspect every seal, run a timed freeze-down, and document the condition. Refrigerant charge loss on machines idle for years. Long-idle machines lose charge through fittings and process tubes slowly enough that nobody notices until the machine is wanted again. The compressor runs, the drum never gets cold enough, and the product stays liquid. I locate the leak, repair it, and weigh in a fresh charge under my Section 608 certification.
Seal and O-ring replacement before a machine re-enters service. Rubber that sat dry for years is finished even if it looks intact, and running product past dead seals contaminates the drive area.
