What we close on the truck.

Auger shaft seal leaking product into the drive housing. The classic Ultra-2 failure. The rear auger seal wears, syrup migrates into the drive housing, and you get sticky residue behind the hopper and eventually a fouled gearbox. Caught early it is a seal and a cleanup. Caught late the gear motor comes with it. I check the seal at every Ultra service in Millbrae because the part is cheap and the gearbox is not.
Torque-out faults from wrong brix or worn drive components. When an Ultra throws torque errors and stops spinning, the product is frozen too hard, usually a brix problem from an over-diluted mix, or the drive bearings are dragging. I test the mix with a refractometer before condemning parts, because half the torque-out calls I see in convenience stores are fixed by correcting the recipe.
Condenser airflow starvation in tight counter installs. Millbrae store counters pack equipment close, and an Ultra breathing hot recycled air will not hold product frozen through an afternoon rush. The unit runs constantly, the barrel goes slushy, and eventually the compressor suffers. I clean the condenser and filter, correct clearances where I can, and check refrigerant performance under EPA 608 certification.
