Compressor that hums but will not start. Before calling the compressor dead, we test the start relay, the capacitor and the contactor, which fail more often and cost far less. If the compressor itself is shorted or seized, that goes in writing next to the machine's age.
Hoshizaki KM thermistor reading off. The KM ends its harvest on a signal from a thermistor on the evaporator outlet. When the thermistor drifts, harvest runs long or cuts short, and cubes come out fused or half-released. We check its resistance against temperature and replace it when it reads wrong.
Control board failure after years of service. Boards fail from heat and age, and a failing board can mimic other faults. We rule out the sensors and switches feeding it before replacing it, then run full freeze and harvest cycles to confirm the fix.
