Sharp in Sunnyvale

Sharp commercial service.

Sunnyvale splits into two kinds of Sharp calls. The restaurants on Murphy Avenue and the Indian and Persian kitchens along El Camino Real run R-CD series heavy-duty units hard through lunch and dinner. Then there are the corporate campuses, where facilities teams manage dozens of medium-duty Sharps like the R-21LCFS across break rooms and micro kitchens, and a failed unit generates tickets until someone fixes it.

We service both from ADRIUM Service Solutions. I am Andrew Kuznetsov, owner, EPA Section 608 Universal certified, CSLB #1136642. For facilities managers we can survey a whole floor of units in one visit and give you a written per-unit quote, repair versus replace, so you are not paying trip fees ten times. Diagnostic is $75, waived with repair, and we work 7 days.

One pattern I see constantly in Sunnyvale: units shoved into under-counter cubbies with no airflow. Sharp specs clearance for a reason, and half the magnetron failures I fix here are really ventilation failures. I will say so when that is the case, because otherwise you buy the same repair again next year.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Thermal cutout tripping on enclosed R-21LCFS units. Break room Sharps recessed into cabinets overheat, and the magnetron thermal cutout opens mid cycle. The unit dies, cools, and works again, so it looks intermittent and gets ignored for months. I verify the cutout, check magnetron current draw, and fix the airflow. If the tube already suffered, I replace it and the cutout together.
  • No heat after a fuse and diode cascade on the R-CD1800M. On hard-run restaurant units the HV diode shorts, takes the fuse with it, and sometimes stresses the capacitor. Replacing the fuse alone blows again on the first cycle. I test the whole high voltage chain, diode, capacitor, magnetron, and transformer, and quote exactly what failed rather than shotgunning parts.
  • Control board relay sticking on preset-heavy kitchens. Kitchens that run the same 30 second preset hundreds of times a day wear the main relay contacts. The symptom is a unit that keeps energizing after the timer ends or will not start until you cycle the plug. That one is not a fuse or a door switch, it is the board, and I carry replacements for the common R-CD control boards.

FAQ

Sharp in Sunnyvale questions, answered.

  • What is your response time to Sunnyvale from San Ramon?
We drive from San Ramon down I-680 and across 237, about 40 minutes without traffic. Sunnyvale anchors my mid-peninsula run with Mountain View, Cupertino, Los Altos, and San Jose, so I am in the area several times a week. Restaurant emergencies during service hours get first slot the same day when I can make it work.
  • Can you handle multiple break room microwaves under one visit?
Yes. For Sunnyvale facilities teams we do a single visit covering every unit on the list, one diagnostic finding per unit, and one written quote showing repair cost against replacement for each. Common parts for the R-21 and R-CD series are on the van, so most units are fixed the same day.
  • Our Sharp heats slower than it used to. Repair or replace?
Slow heating means measurable output loss, and I test it with a timed water load rather than guessing. A tired magnetron on an R-CD chassis is worth replacing because the rest of the unit is built for years more. If output is low because the cavity or waveguide is corroded through, I will show you and recommend replacement. Either way you decide from a written quote.
