Sharp in San Pablo
Sharp commercial service.
San Pablo Avenue runs through the middle of the city, and Rumrill Boulevard carries shops and homes on its way north. A heavy-duty Sharp on a busy counter along either street opens and closes its door over and over through the day. Every opening works the interlock switches, the monitor switch and the latch, and on these units door trouble ranks right behind no-heat as the reason they stop.
A worn interlock shows up as a unit that starts only on the second try, or not at all. A misadjusted monitor switch is worse, because it blows the line fuse on purpose to keep the magnetron off. We repair the switches, set the latch and test the door with a leakage meter. Our technician for this part of Contra Costa County is based in Benicia. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and the written quote comes first. CSLB #1136642.
Common repairs we handle.
- Interlock switches worn by constant door traffic. The primary and secondary interlocks close in a set order as the door shuts. Once they wear, the order slips and the control refuses to start. We replace the switch set together, since one worn switch means the others are not far behind, and set the actuators to Sharp's specification.
- Monitor switch that keeps taking the fuse. The monitor switch is a safety device. If an interlock fails to open, it shorts the line and blows the fuse on purpose. A fuse that goes after a door slam points here. We check the switch timing, the latch hook and the door alignment together, never the fuse alone.
- Door out of square after years of hard closing. Hinges loosen and the door drops a little at the latch side. That throws off the switches and can open a gap at the door seal. We tighten or replace the hinges, bring the door back into line, and run a leakage check with a survey meter before the unit goes back into service.

FAQ
Sharp in San Pablo questions, answered.
-
Our Sharp only starts if someone pushes the door hard. Is it safe to keep using?
No. It means the interlock switches no longer close cleanly, and those switches are what keep microwave energy inside the cabinet. Stop using it and call us. A switch set is a small repair next to the price of a new heavy-duty unit. -
Does a bent door need a whole new door assembly?
Not always. Loose hinges and a worn latch hook can be fixed on their own. A door with a cracked frame or a damaged choke seal along its edge gets replaced, because that seal is part of what contains the energy. The leakage test tells us which case you have. -
What does the written quote actually list?
The failed part, the labor and the total, before any work starts. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair and shows on the quote. If we find a second problem once the cabinet is open, we stop and quote it separately rather than adding it on.
