Sharp in El Sobrante
Sharp commercial service.
Downtown El Sobrante is the stretch of San Pablo Dam Road between El Portal and Appian Way. A small kitchen with one heavy-duty microwave has no spare in the back when a Sharp R-22 or R-CD stops mid-rush. That makes the repair-or-replace question matter more than the part itself.
On a Sharp, the answer is nearly always repair. The cabinet, chassis and transformer last for years, and a magnetron, a diode, a capacitor or a set of door switches costs a fraction of a new unit. When a unit truly is not worth fixing, we say so and put the numbers side by side. A technician based in Benicia covers El Sobrante for us. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and nothing starts before you approve the written quote. CSLB #1136642.
Common repairs we handle.
- Control board relay that counts down but never heats. The control board closes a relay to power the high-voltage side. When those relay contacts burn, the display counts down, the fan runs and nothing heats. We test the relay and the board output before blaming the magnetron, because the symptoms look alike and the parts cost very different amounts.
- Magnetron replacement on a heavy-duty unit. When the rest of the high-voltage circuit tests good and the tube does not, the magnetron is the repair. We fit the correct magnetron for the model, reseat its mounting gasket, and run a water-load test to confirm output. On a heavy-duty Sharp, that repair usually buys the cabinet years more work.
- Touch panel ruined by degreaser spray. Degreaser sprayed straight at the front of the unit wicks under the touch panel edge and ruins the membrane. Keys stop working or fire on their own. We replace the panel and show your staff how to clean the face without soaking it: spray the cloth, not the microwave.

FAQ
Sharp in El Sobrante questions, answered.
-
When would you tell us to replace our Sharp instead of fixing it?
When the cabinet itself is damaged, such as a rusted-through cavity or a door frame that no longer holds its seal, or when several major parts fail at once and the quote nears the price of a new unit. That is uncommon on a heavy-duty Sharp. Either way you get the numbers in writing. -
The display counts down but the food stays cold. Is that the magnetron?
Maybe, but not always. A burnt relay on the control board, a failed diode or a weak capacitor gives the same result. We test each part of that chain before ordering, so you pay for the part that failed and nothing else. -
Do we need to clear the counter before your technician arrives?
Just clear space around the microwave and its outlet. Our technician works at the counter, needs the unit unplugged for part of the testing, and will ask where to set it if the outer cabinet has to come off. Plan on the microwave being out of use while we test it.
