Sharp in Cupertino
Sharp commercial service.
Cupertino kitchens run hard in two places: the restaurant clusters along Stevens Creek Boulevard and Main Street Cupertino, and the corporate break rooms and micro-kitchens that feed thousands of tech employees every day. Both lean on Sharp. Noodle houses and dessert cafes run R-22GTF units on the line, and facilities teams standardize on the twin-magnetron R-CD1800M and R-CD2200M because they reheat fast enough to keep a break room queue moving.
Facilities-grade duty is brutal. A break room Sharp can log more cycles in a week than a home unit sees in a decade, and the failures follow the duty: magnetron pairs aging unevenly, filters clogging, thermal cutouts tripping. I diagnose against the actual model documentation and give the facilities manager a written quote they can push through procurement.
ADRIUM Service Solutions, Andrew Kuznetsov, San Ramon, CSLB #1136642. The $75 diagnostic is waived with repair, repairs carry a 1-year warranty, and we schedule 7 days including corporate off-hours windows.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- One magnetron dead in a twin-tube R-CD unit. The R-CD2200M runs two magnetrons, and when one dies the unit still heats, just slowly and unevenly. Staff double the cook times and nobody calls until the second tube quits. I test both tubes and their HV sections independently and quote exactly what failed, not a blanket tube swap.
- Thermal cutout tripping from a clogged air filter. The intake filter on heavy-duty Sharps loads up with break room dust and the magnetron overheats mid-shift, then the unit works again after cooling and everyone calls it a ghost. I clean the airflow path, verify fan draw, and replace the thermal protector if it has gone out of spec from repeated trips.
- Start failures from worn door interlocks. A queue of engineers cycling the door all day wears the interlock switches to the point where the unit intermittently refuses to start. I replace the full switch set and set the actuation sequence to spec, because Sharp's monitor circuit blows the internal fuse if the timing is off.

FAQ
Sharp in Cupertino questions, answered.
-
How long is the trip from San Ramon to Cupertino, and can you do multiple units in one visit?
Around 50 minutes via 680 and 280. We group Cupertino with Sunnyvale, San Jose, Mountain View, and Los Altos on South Bay runs, and yes, one visit covering every microwave in the building is the efficient way to do it. Facilities managers usually hand me a floor list. -
Can you provide documentation for our facilities vendor system?
Yes. Written quotes before work, itemized invoices after, license CSLB #1136642 on everything, and a certificate of insurance on request. Repairs are warrantied for 1 year, which most vendor systems ask us to state in writing anyway. -
Our break room unit trips the building breaker sometimes. Is that the microwave?
Usually yes. A shorted HV capacitor or a failing transformer in a 2100-watt Sharp pulls fault-level current at the start of a cycle. I test the high-voltage section under load and tell you whether it is the machine or the circuit, in writing, before any parts go in.
