Sharp in Millbrae
Sharp commercial service.
The kitchens along Millbrae's Broadway corridor run at a pace that kills consumer equipment, which is why so many of them run Sharp heavy-duty microwaves. The R-CD, R-22, R-24, and R-25 series units take hundreds of cycles a day steaming buns, heating sides, and keeping a busy line moving. When one quits during lunch, the line stops.
Sharp's commercial units are honest machines: heavy transformers, real magnetrons, metal doors built for abuse. That also means the failures are mechanical and electrical rather than mysterious, and nearly all of them are worth fixing. We repair these on site in Millbrae restaurants, delis, and c-stores, including the SFO-adjacent food service operations.
The $75 diagnostic is waived with repair, quotes are written, and repairs carry a 1-year warranty. We schedule 7 days because your kitchen does too.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Magnetron failure under high duty cycle. An R-22 or R-24 running lunch service can log more cycles in a month than a home unit sees in a decade. When heating weakens or dies with the fans still running, we test the high-voltage circuit and magnetron, discharge everything safely, and install the correct Sharp replacement with a measured output check.
- Door interlock and latch failures. Constant slamming wears the latch and interlock switch assembly until the unit will not start or pops fuses. On the heavy-duty Sharps we replace the switch set as a group and set the latch alignment, because these interlocks are a safety system and deserve to be treated like one.
- Control panel and membrane faults. Steam, grease, and a thousand finger presses a day eventually kill touch pads. Dead keys or ghost inputs on an R-CD unit usually mean the membrane, occasionally the control board behind it. We diagnose which one before quoting, since the price difference is real.

FAQ
Sharp in Millbrae questions, answered.
-
We are a deli on Broadway in Millbrae. How fast can you arrive from San Ramon?
About 45 minutes via the San Mateo Bridge outside commute peaks. Millbrae and Hillsborough sit on one Peninsula route for us, so mid-day urgent calls often get folded into the same day. Give us the model number, like R-24GT, and we load the likely parts before leaving. -
The microwave blew the breaker and now will not start. What is the likely cause?
On heavy-duty Sharps that pattern usually points at a shorted high-voltage component or a failed interlock switch doing its job. Stop using the outlet and call. It is a normal repair, but the high-voltage section holds charge and is not a DIY territory. -
Should we keep a spare unit, or is repair fast enough?
For a single-microwave line, a basic backup is cheap insurance, and I will say so plainly. Most Sharp repairs are one visit when we know the model in advance, and parts we have to order come with a written quote and a real timeline so you can decide with facts.
