Sharp in Alameda
Sharp commercial service.
Alameda packs a lot of food service into a small island. Park Street and Webster Street both run dense with delis, ramen shops, and sandwich counters, and most of them keep a Sharp heavy-duty microwave on the line. When an R-22GTF stops heating at 11:45 on a Tuesday, the whole lunch rush backs up behind it. We repair these units on site, in the kitchen, so you are not boxing up a 70-pound machine and losing days.
I see two populations of Sharp equipment in Alameda. The commercial strips run R-21LCFS and R-22GTF units for steaming and reheating, and the food vendors out at Alameda Point and Spirits Alley lean on compact medium-duty Sharps that were never rated for the cycle counts they actually get. Victorian and bungalow remodels on the island also hide Sharp microwave drawers in tight galley kitchens, and those fail in their own ways.
ADRIUM Service Solutions is run by Andrew Kuznetsov out of San Ramon, CSLB #1136642. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair, quotes are written before work starts, and repairs carry a 1-year warranty.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Weak or dead heating from a failed magnetron. On an R-22GTF that runs a full deli shift, the magnetron is a wear item. The unit hums, the timer counts down, and the food comes out lukewarm. I test filament continuity and output before condemning the tube, because a bad high-voltage diode mimics the same symptom for a third of the price.
- Door interlock switches worn out by cycle count. A busy Park Street counter opens that door several hundred times a day. The interlock switches pit and go intermittent, so the unit dies mid-cycle or refuses to start. I replace the switch set and check door alignment, since a sagging hinge is usually what killed the switches in the first place.
- Blown monitor fuse from interlock timing. Sharp wires a monitor circuit that deliberately blows the internal fuse if the door switches actuate out of sequence. Swapping the fuse without fixing the sequence just blows the next one. We correct the switch timing first, then fuse it, so the repair holds.

FAQ
Sharp in Alameda questions, answered.
-
How fast can you get from San Ramon to a restaurant on Alameda?
About 35 to 40 minutes over 580 and 880 in normal traffic, plus the bridge or tube onto the island. We usually route Alameda together with Oakland and San Leandro stops, so if you call in the morning there is a good chance we are already on that side of the bay. We run 7 days. -
Is it worth repairing a commercial Sharp or should I just buy a new one?
A new R-22GTF class unit runs well north of a thousand dollars and a magnetron or switch repair is a fraction of that. My rule is simple: if the cavity and transformer are sound, repair wins. The written quote lets you compare before committing, and the $75 diagnostic is waived if you go ahead. -
Do you repair on site or take the unit away?
On site in almost every case. Magnetrons, diodes, switches, and fuses are bench-level parts we carry or source fast, and the work happens in your kitchen during off hours if you prefer. Repairs are covered for 1 year.
