The gear motor that turns each auger is the usual mechanical fault. It grinds, clicks or stops, and the mix freezes into a block around an auger that is no longer moving. - Sugar-free mix freezing into a block. Slush machines depend on sugar to keep the mix soft while it freezes. A sugar-free or watered-down mix freezes hard, stalls the auger and strains the motor. We thaw the tank, check the drive for damage and go over the right mix ratio with you.

We only use our Vevor a few times a year. Is it worth repairing?
Usually. The machine is cheap, but so is a gear motor, a seal kit or a tap rebuild. Replacement makes more sense only when the compressor is dead and the parts cost gets close to a new machine. We put both numbers in writing. -
The auger clicks but does not turn. Is the motor dead?
Not always. A frozen-solid tank, a broken coupling or stripped gears can stop the auger while the motor still hums or clicks. We check each of those before replacing the motor. -
Can we use sugar-free mix in it?
Not without trouble. The machine needs sugar in the mix to make slush instead of ice. Use a mix made for slush machines, at the ratio on the label, and the auger and motor will last longer.
