Vevor slush and granita machines show up everywhere in Bay Area cafes, corner stores, and bars because they are cheap to buy. The trade-off is that they run hard and the parts wear. Most of the calls we get are the same handful of problems, and most of them are fixable.

The compressor and refrigeration side is the big one. If a tank stops freezing or the mix stays soupy all day, we test the sealed system, check the charge, and look for leaks before condemning the compressor. Refrigerant and sealed-system work is licensed under CSLB #1136642, so it gets done right and stays legal. On the mechanical side, the auger gear motor is the usual culprit when a tank stops turning or grinds. We pull the motor, check the gears and the drive, and replace what is worn.

The rest is wear parts. Tank gaskets and seals dry out and leak, and a leaking seal will ice up the bowl and burn the motor over time. Drip trays crack and tap valves stick or drip, which is messy and costs you product. We rebuild the taps and reseal the tanks. When a control board quits and the machine won’t power up or hold a setting, we test it before swapping it, since boards are the expensive part.

Vevor parts are inexpensive but availability is hit or miss. We source per call and tell you what we find before we order anything.

Almost always worth repairing

For a commercial operator, a Vevor is usually worth fixing. The machine is cheap, but so is the repair, and a working machine on the counter makes money every shift it runs. A gear motor, a seal kit, or a tap rebuild costs a fraction of a new unit and gets you back in service the same week. We only steer you toward replacement when the compressor is dead on an out-of-warranty machine and the parts cost climbs past what a new unit runs.

We charge $75 for the diagnostic, and that fee is waived when you book the repair. You get a written quote before we touch anything, so there are no surprises on the invoice. If the numbers say replace instead of repair, we tell you that straight.
