What we do

A slush or frozen-drink machine is a refrigeration unit with a gearbox bolted to the front, and both halves fail. We repair the commercial frozen-beverage machines that c-stores, cafes, bars, and dessert spots run all day: Bunn Ultra dispensers, Crathco cold and frozen units, Elmeco granita machines, Spaceman and Donper frozen-beverage units, and the Vevor 2 and 3-tank machines that fill the budget end of the market.

The sealed system is EPA-regulated. Recovering the charge, finding a leak, and recharging takes certification (EPA #1279674151528) and tools a general handyman does not carry. The drive side, augers, gearmotors, magnetic couplings, scraper blades, and barrel seals, is mechanical wear that a foodservice operator runs into on a schedule. We handle both, so a down machine gets one truck, not two.

Foodservice runs on its own clock. We keep an after-hours line at (925) 999-4095 for commercial calls. A slush machine dead on a hot Saturday is straight lost revenue.

Common failures we see

No freeze, barrel stays liquid. Two paths. Either the sealed system lost charge or the compressor is not pulling down, which is the EPA-certified side, or the mix-low and temperature sensors are misreading and the machine never calls for freeze. We read the system before we open it.

Auger or beater not turning, or grinding. The gearmotor, drive gear, or magnetic coupling. On the magnetic-drive units (Crathco) the coupling slips before it dies. On geared units (Bunn, Vevor, Donper) the gear strips. We carry common drive parts and source the rest per call.

Leaking around the barrel or tap. Barrel seals, scraper-blade seals, and tap valves harden and weep. They are cheap parts and a fast job, and they are also a sanitation issue, so we replace the full seal kit rather than the one that failed.

Slow or grainy product. Scraper blades worn, refrigeration marginal, or the mix ratio off. We check blade wear and the sealed-system performance together, because a worn blade and a low charge look the same in the cup.

Sanitation and health-code. A frozen-beverage machine is a food-contact surface. Scale, mold, and old mix build up in the barrel and lines where you cannot see them, and an inspector who opens a neglected machine writes you up. We break down, clean, and sanitize to health-department standards and can put you on a documented schedule.

Repair or replace

A commercial Bunn, Crathco, or Elmeco is built to be serviced and is almost always worth repairing against the cost of a new commercial unit. The budget machines (Vevor and some imports) are a different math: parts can cost more than half the machine and availability is spotty, so we give you a straight read before you spend. We quote everything before we start, and the $75 diagnostic is waived when you book the repair.
