Navien in Vallejo
Navien heating and cooling in Vallejo.
Vallejo's city water comes from Lake Berryessa and the State Water Project, and it is hard. For a Navien condensing tankless heater that matters more than anything else about the town. Minerals settle on the stainless heat exchanger every time the burner fires, and a unit that goes a few years without a flush loses output, drifts in temperature, and eventually shuts down with a fault.
The housing adds its own wrinkles. The Victorian and Craftsman homes downtown can have long pipe runs to a far bathroom, where recirculation earns its keep. Glen Cove houses from the 1980s and 1990s often started with a tank in the garage, and a Navien that replaced it depends on a gas line sized for the new unit, not the old one. Our technician for Vallejo works out of Benicia, the next town east. A $99 diagnostic starts the visit and is credited toward the repair, and the quote is in writing. CSLB #1136642.
Common repairs we handle.
- Scaled heat exchanger losing output. Hard water leaves a mineral layer inside the exchanger. Hot water takes longer, the temperature wanders, and the unit may lock out on overheat. We descale with a circulation pump and a descaling solution through the service valves, then check flow and outlet temperature.
- Low-flow fault from a clogged inlet filter. Scale flakes and sediment collect on the small inlet screen. Flow drops below what the Navien needs to fire, so a faucet runs lukewarm or the unit throws a flow code. We pull and clean the screen and check the flow sensor while we are in there.
- Ignition lockout after a tank was replaced. A Navien firing at full rate needs far more gas than the tank it replaced. On a gas line sized for the old tank, the burner starves and locks out when two showers run. We measure gas pressure under full fire and tell you if the line needs to be upsized.

FAQ
Navien in Vallejo questions, answered.
-
Vallejo water is hard. How often should our Navien be descaled?
Once a year is the right starting point here, and more often if the unit serves a large household. If there are no isolation valves on the water lines, we add them so flushing becomes a simple routine. -
Our Glen Cove house swapped a tank for a Navien, and it shuts off when two showers run. Why?
Most likely the gas supply. A tankless unit at high fire draws much more gas than a tank, and a line sized for the old heater cannot keep up. We check pressure at the unit with everything running and quote the fix in writing. -
Would a water softener help our Navien in Vallejo?
A softener or a scale-control cartridge ahead of the unit slows buildup. It does not replace the yearly flush, and a softener has to be set up correctly for a tankless heater. We can check the exchanger and tell you how fast scale is forming now.
