  • Heavy scale from hard Livermore water. Livermore has some of the hardest water in the Tri-Valley, and the Navien exchanger scales fast without yearly flushing. The shower goes lukewarm, then a temperature fault. I descale with a circulation pump and check the inlet filter screen for mineral buildup too.
  • Builder-minimum venting and condensate on south-side tracts. Newer south Livermore homes sometimes had venting and condensate done to the bare minimum. A few years in, the condensate clogs or the vent causes an air fault. I correct the routing and add a neutralizer for the acidic discharge.
  • Old gas line on downtown conversions. Older homes near downtown converted from a tank often kept the half-inch gas line. The Navien starves under full fire and faults on ignition. I test gas pressure while it fires and upsize the branch where needed.
