Navien in Concord
Navien heating and cooling in Concord.
Concord is a big spread of housing, from the older fifties and sixties ranches in Dana Estates and around Todos Santos, to the newer two-story homes up in Crystyl Ranch and Lime Ridge. The older ranches usually converted from a tank and the newer homes often came tankless from the builder, so I see both the worn early installs and the factory units here.
Navien condensing units handle Concord's range of homes well. This is the Diablo Valley, so summers run hot inland and the water is hard. The hard water is the main thing that ages a heat exchanger here. On the older ranch conversions I most often find a vent run forced through a wall the short way and a gas line that was never upsized from the old tank.
We run water heater and HVAC work through our division Bay Area HVAC Service. I am EPA Section 608 Universal certified, we hold CSLB #1136642, the $75 diagnostic is waived when you repair, you get a written quote first, and we are out 7 days a week.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Hard-water scale on the heat exchanger. Concord's hard water lays scale on the Navien exchanger fast if it is not flushed yearly. You see temperature dropping mid-shower and eventually a fault code. I descale with a circulation pump and check that the inland water is not also fouling the inlet filter screen.
- Ignition and flame-rod faults on older conversions. On the Dana Estates ranches the converted gas line is often undersized and the flame rod gets sooted. The unit fails to ignite or drops the flame under load. I clean or replace the flame rod and verify gas pressure while it fires.
- Condensate neutralizer clogged or missing. Condensing Navien units discharge acidic condensate, and some Concord installs ran it straight to a drain without a neutralizer, or the neutralizer cartridge is spent. The line clogs or the discharge is out of code. I service or add the neutralizer and clear the drain.

FAQ
Navien in Concord questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Concord from San Ramon
It is a straightforward run up the valley. We usually route through Walnut Creek, which neighbors Concord along with Pleasant Hill and Martinez, so it stays efficient. We confirm a real arrival window. -
Does the inland Concord heat affect my tankless
The heat itself does not bother the unit much. The hard water does. Concord's water scales the heat exchanger, so annual descaling is the thing that keeps your efficiency and warranty intact here. -
My ranch home converted from a tank years ago. What usually needs attention
On older Concord conversions I most often find an undersized gas line and a sooted flame rod from years of marginal combustion. I check both, plus whether anyone ever descaled it, and give you a written quote for what actually needs doing.
