Navien in San Carlos
Navien in San Carlos kitchens.
San Carlos runs from the restaurant row on Laurel Street out through blocks of older bungalows, then up into the Highlands and the hills toward Crestview. The homes near downtown tend to be older, many converted from a tank water heater at some point. The hill homes are newer or remodeled, and some run a combi unit that handles both domestic hot water and radiant floor heat.
I work on Navien units across both sides of San Carlos. Near downtown and Laurel Street, the recurring issue is a gas line that was sized for the old tank and never upsized for a tankless unit's higher burner draw. Up in the hills, where more homes have the NCB combi model doing double duty, the thing I watch is the heating loop side, since a fault there can look like a hot water problem when it is actually the space heating circuit.
We run out of San Ramon as ADRIUM Service Solutions, but we keep a technician stationed on the Peninsula, which puts San Carlos within easy reach. EPA Section 608 Universal certified, CSLB #1136642, $99 diagnostic waived when the repair is booked, written quotes, and 7 day availability.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Undersized gas line from an old tank conversion. Plenty of the bungalows near Laurel Street and downtown had a tank swapped for a Navien at some point, and the branch line from the meter stayed the same size. Under full fire the unit cannot pull the gas volume it needs and throws an ignition or flame-loss fault, usually right when someone is running a shower and the dishwasher at once. I check gas pressure under load and upsize the branch where it is short.
- Combi unit heating loop faults on Highlands homes. Some of the newer and remodeled homes up in the Highlands run an NCB combi unit for both hot water and radiant floor heat. A fault on the heating side, like a stuck zone valve or a fouled heat exchanger loop, can trip the unit and take the hot water down with it even though the domestic side is fine. I isolate which loop is actually causing the fault before I start replacing parts.
- Scale on the domestic side from unflushed units. A number of San Carlos units, especially the older downtown conversions, have never been flushed since install. The heat exchanger scales, output drops, and eventually you get a temperature fault. I descale it and check whether isolation valves are even present so future flushes are quick instead of a full shutdown.

FAQ
Navien in San Carlos questions, answered.

We are near Laurel Street. Do you service homes in that part of town or just the newer areas
Both. I service the older homes near downtown and Laurel Street as much as the newer builds up in the Highlands. The older section tends to have gas line sizing issues from the original tank conversion, which I check first. -
How do you cover San Carlos from San Ramon without a long delay
We have a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, so San Carlos does not require a crosstown drive every time. I will not tell you it is always same-day, but the response here is faster than you would expect from a San Ramon company. -
My combi unit lost hot water but the floors are still warm. Does that make sense
It can go either way. Sometimes a fault on the heating loop drags down the domestic side too, and sometimes the two run independently enough that one keeps working while the other fails. I check both loops so we are not guessing which one caused it.
