- Carried-over gas line on ranch conversions. Older Los Altos ranches converted from a tank often kept the half-inch gas line. The Navien starves under full fire and faults on ignition or flame loss. I measure gas pressure while it fires and upsize the branch where needed.
- Recirculation faults on remodeled homes. Remodeled Los Altos homes with longer runs use recirculation to cut the wait for hot water. The pump or the return loop fails and the far fixtures wait. I test the pump, the loop, and the Navien recirc programming.
- Scale from hard water. The water here scales the exchanger if it is not flushed yearly. Output drops, then a temperature fault. I descale with a circulation pump and add isolation valves where the install left none.
