Undersized gas branch near the theatre district. A good number of the older homes close to downtown and the theatre district still run the branch gas line sized for the tank heater they replaced. Under full fire the Navien cannot draw what it needs and locks out on ignition or flame loss, usually the first cold morning someone runs two fixtures back to back. I measure gas pressure under load and upsize the branch line where it falls short.
Heat exchanger fouling on combi units serving radiant floors. Some of the custom Emerald Hills homes run an NCB combi unit feeding both the domestic hot water and a radiant floor loop. Debris or scale working through the secondary heat exchanger on the heating side can foul flow and eventually pull the domestic side down with it. I flush and check both circuits separately so I know which one is actually causing the drop in output.
