- Electric range dead bake element. Oven won't heat, broil still works, no glow along the bottom element. Element burned through at a hot spot. Direct swap, one visit, I stock the common GE and Whirlpool elements.
- Wolf M Series oven ignitor. Bake won't light, owner assumes the valve is dead. The hot-surface ignitor cracked. I carry it. One hour, single visit.
- Gas burner won't light. Clicks but no flame, or lights slow and lifts off the cap. Usually a fouled igniter electrode or a misseated burner cap. Clean and re-seat, verify flame, no parts on most of these.
- Samsung range control fault. Display throws a temp or sensor error, oven runs hot or won't hold. I test the sensor against the board before I condemn either one.

My gas oven won't light but the cooktop burners work fine. What's wrong?
The bake ignitor. On most gas ovens the safety valve only opens once the ignitor pulls enough current, and a cracked ignitor never gets there. The cooktop uses a separate spark system, which is why those still light. I test the ignitor first. -
