Cooking Appliance Repair in Alameda
Cooking Appliance Repair in Alameda.
Alameda cooking calls split by neighborhood. Park Street, Webster, and South Shore run mostly GE, LG, and Samsung. The everyday work is oven temp sensors drifting out of spec and igniters that glow but never light. The 94501 island stock is older houses with retrofit kitchens, so the wiring behind a 30-inch slide-in is often the failure, not the range itself.
The Gold Coast Victorians and the newer Bay Farm townhomes on 94502 add a luxury layer. Wolf ranges and the occasional Thermador wall oven show up in those remodels, plus Bosch cooktops in the condos. On a Wolf or Thermador the first move is the meter: test the gas valve micro-switch and the spark module before condemning anything. Guess wrong on a pro burner and the parts bill climbs fast.
What the work looks like
A gas oven burner lighting clean after service.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- GE range, F2 over-temp lockout. Oven temp sensor has drifted. Sensor swap is a 30-minute job. The control board is usually fine, and I test it before I touch it.
- Range hood touch board dead. Grease works in at the seam and kills the touch sensors. I clean, re-seal, and only replace the board if the sensors test dead on the bench.
- Wolf range burner clicks, no light. Usually the spark module, the igniter electrode, or carbon at the tip. I clean, re-gap, and bench-test the valve micro-switch before ordering.
- Bosch cooktop fault code on Bay Farm condos. Induction cooktops throw a fault when the power module overheats, and that is most often a blocked cooling vent under the glass. I clean the vent and verify airflow, often back in service without a part.

FAQ
Cooking Appliance Repair in Alameda questions, answered.
-
How long does it take you to reach Alameda from San Ramon?
Drive time is 35 to 50 minutes via 580 and the Webster Tube. I run Alameda on the Oakland route, so I batch island calls on those days. You get a written arrival window before I leave the shop. -
My gas range smells like gas after the igniter was replaced. Is that safe?
No. Gas work is licensed under CSLB #1136642 and I carry a proper leak detector on the truck. A burner that lights but smells means a loose orifice, a cracked supply fitting, or a bad valve. I check the whole gas path, not only the part that failed.
