Cooking Appliance Repair in Castro Valley
Cooking Appliance Repair in Castro Valley.
Most of the cooking calls in the 94546 and 94552 flats are mainstream gas ranges. Around the Village, Proctor, and Jensen Ranch the stock is GE, LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool. Two failures come up over and over. Oven igniters that glow but never pull enough current to open the gas valve, and surface burner spark modules that click on every burner at once. The igniter is a meter test, not a guess. If it reads weak under load, the valve never opens and the oven runs cold.
Five Canyons and Palomares Hills change the mix. Those 1990s-and-newer hillside kitchens carry Bosch wall ovens and cooktops, KitchenAid built-in, and a Wolf range in the remodels. The Bosch induction work here is mostly an F47 or overheat fault from a blocked cooling vent under the cooktop, and the hidden bake element on the Bosch ovens is a clean single-visit swap when we have the model number ahead of time.
What the work looks like
A gas oven burner lighting clean after service.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- GE and Whirlpool oven igniter, no heat. Weak glow-bar igniter that will not open the gas valve. Meter-tested under load, then swapped. Most ranges back up the same visit.
- Range surface spark module, all burners clicking. Carbon at an electrode tip or a stuck micro-switch keeps every burner sparking. We clean, re-gap, and test the valve switch before condemning the module.
- Bosch induction overheat fault. F47 or shutdown from a blocked fan vent under the cooktop. Most of these are airflow, not the power board. We clear the vent and verify.
- Bosch wall oven dead bake element. Hidden European element on the hillside builds. Rear panel off, swap, resistance check, full bake cycle on the bench before signout.

FAQ
Cooking Appliance Repair in Castro Valley questions, answered.
-
How fast can you get to Castro Valley from San Ramon?
Castro Valley is a 15 to 20 minute run down 580 for us, and we pair it with the Hayward and San Leandro route. Booked windows get a written arrival time before we leave the shop. -
My gas oven igniter glows but the oven stays cold. Is that the igniter?
Usually yes. A glow-bar igniter can light up and still be too weak to draw the current that opens the gas valve. We meter it under load. If it reads low, the valve never opens, and the fix is the igniter, not the valve or the board. -
Do you do gas range work, or only electric?
Both. Gas work is licensed under CSLB #1136642 and we carry a gas-leak detector on the truck. Igniters, spark modules, thermocouples, and valve switches are standard for us.
